One skill that can help teens get through tough times is to write about them. "The Struggle to be Strong" is filled with true stories written by actual teenagers who lived through some heavy stuff. Artiqua dated a boy of another race, Youniqiue was abandoned by her mother, Craig was worried about coming out of the closet, Danny tried valiantly to learn to flirt, Tamecka stressed out about college. All of their problems were vastly different yet these teens show the most important quality to surviving - resiliance. This book runs the gamut of teen experience and sheds light on some of the difficulties that young people face today. In my opinion, it's a very interesting read. |
We all know how hard it is to be a teenager. Dating, drinking, drugs, sex, parents, divorce, moving, friends, enemies - the list goes on and on. Sometimes life can get really frustrating and depressing, especially when you're in that weird space between being a kid and becoming an adult.
