The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge & Gustave Dore

This is one of the most famous poems in the English language. It's Coleridge at his most brilliant; I get chills when I read it. Who wouldn't get the willies while reading about a guy with a rotting albatross strung around his neck and reanimated corpses traipsing aboard the mariner's ship? This epic is rich with couplets that have become part of common language. And Gustave Dore's baroque, over the top line drawings are are simply wonderful.
