Carpal Tunnel
I think I'm getting carpal tunnel syndrome. This is not a good thing for someone who makes their living working on a computer. So, I've been thinking about what would happen to me if I suddenly lost the ability to use my hands as my primary mode of employment. What would become of me? Ouch. It hurts as I type this. Perhaps I could dictate flowery romance novels to a buff male secretary. Or maybe I could be a web site consultant. Yeah, I hear they make lots of dough. Perhaps I could just panhandle on the subway. What would be your reaction to a skinny, young, girl bumming dimes off you on your morning commute? What else can i do with out my hands...that could earn me a living....You know, I can't really think of anything. The truth is, I'd be royally screwed. Really. Totally. Utterly. Such a stupid pointless injury, borne of repetitive tasks. Have you ever noticed how repetitive it is to write the word "repetitive"? Chronic pain as a result of your job. And I won't even bore you with the tales of my TMJ, which is also very painful and chronic and work (read: stress) related. Me thinks I need a vacation. A nice long one, someplace warm...with no computers. Just a coconut shell filled with some exotic girlie drink and lots of crashing waves...and ukulele music....come to think of it ukulele is kind of repetitive too.....
