I'm an Illustrator
Basically, I draw stuff for a living. Not too shabby.
I graduated FIT in 1994 with a BFA in Illustration. No, I didn't study fashion. And no, I can't sew. At least not very well.
I specialize in "tweens". I hate that word. Tween. Tweenager. It smacks of marketing-jargon. Like "paradigm" or "proactive". A tween is someone who is older than a kid, but younger than a teenager. 9-12. That's my main market. And I guess I do tween well, because I get a lot of work doing it. Believe me, I'm not complaining. I like what I do, I just don't like weird, made up marketing words.
I have two styles featured in my portfolio right now: the tried and true "graphic" style and the painterly "sketchy" style. The graphic style is more popular with my clients, but the sketchy style is fun to do for a change.
People sometimes ask how I do my art. For the graphic style, I do a pencil sketch, scan it, then draw over it in Adobe Illustrator. The sketchy style is made by scanning the pencil or marker drawing and painting over it in Corel Painter. It's that simple.
Check out my stuff and let me know if I can do anything for you.
